Pé de Cabra

Pé de Cabra is an alcoholic drink from the Madeira Island. It was created in the upper areas of the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, the city of fishermen. This town is well known for its traditional drinks, other than Pé de Cabra, it is responsible for creating many other typical drinks in our island.

This is a drink appreciated by almost all residents of the island, it has an intense flavor, as it is composed of dry wine and stout and is very desirable. Due to the sugar, the powdered chocolate and lemon peels we manage to obtain a formidable combination of flavors. This traditional drink was often served in typical “pasture houses” (a sort of tavern).

How to Make Pé de Cabra - Confection Method

This is a simple drink to prepare. To make it even easier, we advise you to use the aid of a “mechelote” (poncha stick) or a wooden spoon and if you choose to put ice it is more effective to use a hand blender (the use of ice is a way to get a creamy result).

Ingredients for Pé de Cabra:

2.5 dl of dry wine

1 stout

Sugar q.b

1 tablespoon of chocolate powder

Lemon peels

Crushed ice (optional)
