Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint

The Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint is located in Funchal, at an altitude of 355 meters, and from there it is possible to have a panoramic view over the city.

Pico dos Barcelos is an observation point at 1165 ft above sea level with stunning, sweeping views of the Bay of Funchal. This is the nearest viewpoint to Funchal and the easiest to get to, as it is on the Red bus or Yellow Bus route.

At a height of 335m, there are 360°views over Funchal and the surrounding area. This is also where the locals meet on New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks. There is a café, a restaurant and some stalls where you can buy souvenirs and crafts. 

You can easily get here by local buses going from the city center - number 9 or 13.

Pico da Cruz

At the top of Pico da Cruz, we can enjoy magnificent views over the bay and amphitheatre of the city of Funchal. From here, we can contemplate the majority of the parish of São Martinho, from the coastline to the peak of the Church. To the East, we see the Garajau, in the municipality of Santa Cruz, and to the West, we can still observe the imposing promontory of Cabo Girão, in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos.

Neves viewpoint

With a privileged view over the bay of the city of Funchal, Miradouro das Neves is located on the eastern slope, at 283 meters of altitude, and provides a spectacular landscape of all the urbanism that constitutes the city's amphitheater.

Pináculo viewpoint

The beautiful view from this Miradouro with 283 meters elevation often ornates brochures about Funchal. The view looks at Funchal from the east. After Funchal far away in the distance, you can see Cabo Girao.  If you look the other way, you can admire the Ilhas Desertas. 

Pico Alto viewpoint

Pico alto viewpoint is midway between Monte and Poiso and is part of the Ecological Park of Funchal. Pico Alto has an excellent view over Funchal city since it is 1129 meters in altitude. In addition to a complete immersion in nature, there is a great space for barbecuing.

There is a small platform from which you can jump from Paragliding and Hang Gliding. The distance between takeoff and landing in Funchal is 5 km, at an altitude of 1,129 m.
