Nun's Valley is a small parish, surrounded by huge mountains, in the heart of the island.
Why does it call Nun's Valley?
The name refers back to 1566 when nuns from the Santa Clara Convent in Funchal sought refuge in this remote spot whilst French pirates attacked and pillaged their city.
