How to get to Cristo Rei?
Garajau is located near Funchal and easily accessible by car. By bus, you can catch bus 155, but you still need to walk for 15 minutes.
Cristo Rei is a 14m high Art Deco statue almost a century old, it was built in 1927. It was actually built before Rio’s statue. It is located on a cliff in the small village of Garajau, high above the ocean. No shoving crowds here, but a magnificent view and serenity.
